Prinses Alexiaviaduct
The Prinses Alexia Viaduct is an infrastructure project on the Maasvlakte, initiated by the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
The viaduct replaces the existing level crossings with a fly-over crossing over the Maasvlakteweg, bridging the industrial pipeline corridor, the utilities pipeline corridor, the Container Exchange Route (CER), and the railway. Additionally, the viaduct connects with level crossings to the Mekongweg and the Prinses Máximaweg. This project is essential for the future accessibility of the area around the Prinses Alexiahaven, where new container terminals and biobased and circular industrial activities are being developed.
The construction of the viaduct has been awarded to BAM Infra Nederland, with construction work set to begin in June 2025 and expected completion in November 2026. During execution, a strong focus is placed on sustainability, utilizing electric equipment, sustainable concrete, and HVO100 fuel to reduce CO₂ emissions. Additionally, sand from nearby locations will be used to minimize transport movements.
